Rossco
Equipment Inc., Gardena, Calif., has built
a business from scratch on one firm principle: "Do
a day's work for a day's pay." The company's dedication
to that principle has been rewarded by steady growth
and substantial success, and as a result Rossco is celebrating
its 15th Anniversary in 2000.
Ross
Einboden has been working in the equipment rental business
for 24 years. Prior to starting Rossco, Inc., Ross worked
for his father, who had been in the business for 35
years at Rossco, Inc.'s present location.

DuWayne
Stuflick, who is a retired Pacific Telephone executive,
had the confidence and faith that Ross could start his
own company. He always told Ross, "You can do it."
So with DuWayne's confidence and Ross's knowledge of the
equipment business, they started Rossco, Inc. in June
of 1985.
The
company, based in Gardena, does structural backfill
and finish grading, and rents operated and maintained
equipment as weel as bare equipment to other companies.
Rossco, Inc. works with many of the large contractors
in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside
Counties. Rossco is very well established in the industry
for being such a young company.
Ross
Einboden is president of the company while DuWayne Stuflick
is vice president. In the office they have two key employees
who keep things running smoothly: Paul Wood, who dispatches
the equipment and operators as well as the delivery
of machines to the jobsite, and Peggy Jones, who handles
accounting and bookkeeping

In
the shop area where all the hard work is done, you will
find master mechanic Brian Viers and his assistant,
Foster Cavanaugh. They are responsible for all the heavy-duty
repair work on all the equipment, as well as maintaining
a fleet of 20 diesel pickups that the operators use.
With the training and experience of these individuals,
Rossco is able to service all of its own equpment in
the shop, as well as in the field.
Rossco
has 25 full-time operating engineers. Lyle Deason has
been with Ross since the beginning. He worked for Ross's
father's company (E.E. Curley Einboden, Inc.). Some
of his other key operators are Mike Eckardt, Alan Brooke,
Danny Arellanes, Steve Whaley, Ronny Jennings, and Randy
Brazil. Rossco has a reputation for excellent operators,
each with substantial experience on his chosen machine.
Ross takes good care of his operator force, because,
as Ross points out, "They shine; operators are
my sales force - the guys who run the machines are my
best salesmen."

Contractors
Equipment Co., Anaheim, Calif., also played a role in
the company's success. Every skip loader Rossco has
ever purchased has come from Contractors Equipment.
The six skip loaders he has bought are four-wheel-drive
with four-in-one buckets. They have always stood behind
their machines and parts.
Rossco
specializes in tight-access structural backfill, slope
repairs, small basement excavations and backfill, and
fine-grade work with skip loaders. The contractors he
works for appreciate the knowledge Ross brings to the
field with his machines and operators.
The
company has worked on quite a few large projects, the
largest of these being the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los
Angeles for Dinwiddie Construction. Rossco started the
job in 1990.
